SCRAPPERS vs LEOPARDS (part 2)

Nov 14, 2011 | General
The "re-match" will not be for the faint of heart!

The Nashville Scrappers will travel back to DeQueen for a re-match of the Sept 23 conference opener for both teams.  The Leopards dominated much of that game and were victorious for the first time in twelve years against the tradition rich Scrappers.  They claimed the Saline River "Walking Stick", the traveling trophy, for the first time since it had been instituted by two local papers.  The score of the Sept 23rd game was DeQueen 38 Nashville 13.

Both schools are expecting a packed house for the re-match.  "It is time to lock the doors and turn off the lights for the city of Nashville and everyone turn out in support of our Scrappers!", athletic director Bunch Nichols says.

The Scrappers earned the number 5 play-off seed by winning 3 or their last 4 games in regular season while DeQueen entered the play-offs as the number 3 seed with an overall record of 5-5.  The Scrappers advanced past the first round with a 35-21 victory of the Highland Rebels and the Leopards advanced with a 21-16 win over Booneville.
