MALVERN DEFEATS NASHVILLE FOR SECOND TIME
Three mistakes by the Nashville Scrappers in the first half of the 4A state
playoffs at Malvern Friday night led to 21 Leopard points..as they defeated Nashville, 28 to 16.  In the opening period, Malvern
intercepted a Nashville pass..and two plays later, converted on a 37 yard running play, to go up 7 to nothing.  Also in the opening
quarter, another Scrapper interception would lead to the 2nd touchdown for Malvern, making a 14 to nothing score.  The Leopards
took a 21 to nothing lead by blocking a Nashville punt that led to a one yard touchdown run.  Before halftime, Nashville's offense
began responding.  Jakaree Gaines put the Scrappers on the board with a 15 yard run.  The extra point was no good, leaving it a
21 to 6 Margain.  Gaines would score his second touchdown on the night prior to half on a 5 yard running play..meaning Nashville
would trail 21 to 13 at halftime.  In the second half, a Scrapper field goal made it a 21 to 16 game..but that's as close as Nashville
would get.  A two yard Malvern touchdown run in the 4th quarter put the game out of reach, for a final score of 28 to 16.  Nashville
finishes the year with a season record of 6 and 7.  After a slow start to the year, the Scrappers won 5 of their last seven games...
with both losses coming against Malvern.
