Perry steps down after 2 seasons.

Scrapper Coach Tim Perry has submitted his resignation effective

June 30, 2012.

Perry informed his coaching staff and Superintendent Doug

Graham of the decision Saturday afternoon.

“The Nashville School District is appreciative of the two years

of Coach Perry’s tenure,” Graham said. “Coach Perry is a sincere

and humble person. He was an outstanding example and role

model for our district. I have never seen or been associated

with anyone with his work ethic. We wish him luck in the future.”

Perry spent two seasons in Nashville. Both of his squads

advanced to the quarterfinals of the state Class 4A playoffs.

Graham said the district will “weigh all options when

we return to school in January concerning a replacement.”

Perry was hired New Year’s Eve, 2009, and began his tenure

in Nashville Jan. 11, 2010.

He was already well known to Scrapper fans from his days

as the head coach at Central Arkansas Christian, where

he defeated Nashville twice and the Scrappers defeated CAC twice.

Perry’s CAC team won the state championship in 2004 and finished as runners-up to the Scrappers in 2005.

Perry coached at CAC from 2001-2008. From there, he moved to his alma mater, Harding University, where he served as offensive coordinator. The 2008 Bisons led NCAA Division II in passing attempts per game, passing attempts per season, passing yards per game and passing yards per season.

Perry was hired at Nashville from a field of 18 applicants. The list was narrowed to six finalists before Perry was named.

Perry has 22 years of head coaching experience. He has received a host of honors, including coach of the year from the National Football Foundation, Little Rock Touchdown Club, Hooten’s Arkansas Football, State Farm and the Arkansas Activities Association.

At Nashville, Perry’s 2010 team won the Fountain Lake 7-on-7 tournament. The squad finished the season with a record of 10-3, falling to Shiloh Christian in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.

The 2011 Scrappers were runners-up at the Fountain Lake tournament. They lost to Malvern in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.
