Cross Country Opens Season

The cross country teams kicked off their season Saturday at the Bob Gravett Invitational in Arkadelphia.

The junior girls were the only team at full strength on the day and placed 6th out of 11 schools. Kinley Martin led the way in the 2 mile race placing 27th out of 115, with a time of 15:39. Katelyn Giddens (36th), Allie Sartin (55th), Natalie Soto (62nd), and Hayley Soto (88th) contributed to the team score.

The junior boys had three runners that were paced by Enrique Bearden. Bearden finished 18th out of 136 with a time of 12:50. Leo Hernandez completed his first cross country race at 13:04 in 23rd place. Evan Cooley also made his debut placing 111th.

The senior girls also had three runners competing. Kristin Chandler placed 66th at 26:34, Kylie Ray was 68th at 26:36, and Ashlyn Hipp was right behind in 69th also at 26:36. There were 116 total runners.

The senior boys had four runners led by Josh Feltenberger. Feltenberger finished 50th with a time of 20:09. Jonathan Perez ran a personal best time of 20:11, placing 51st. Colby Clay and Riley Oge placed 81st and 83rd, respectively. There were 141 in the boys race.
